Why

This is a post-delivery outcome record following an operative vaginal delivery of a stillborn infant. Provide comprehensive, compassionate bereavement support, active screening for postpartum depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder, and evaluate physical perineal healing and pelvic floor integrity. Cautions
  • RED FLAG - Puerperal sepsis (foul lochia, uterine tenderness, high fever): assess urgently and refer.
  • Recognise the risk to maternal mental health after stillbirth and screen for depression or trauma symptoms.
  • No medicine is prescribed for this in primary care - this entry is for recognition and referral. Anything given is decided by the service it is referred to.
