   Why      Emollients treat dry, scaling, or fissured skin regardless of the specific underlying
            dermatosis and are first-line, safe symptomatic care.
   Caution  Widespread scaling or fissuring with systemic illness could indicate erythroderma or a
            severe eczema/psoriasis flare needing urgent care.
            Regular, liberal emollient use is the mainstay for peeling, scaling, or fissured skin
            from most causes.
            If scaling is widespread and associated with systemic illness or redness, consider
            erythroderma or a severe eczema/psoriasis flare and seek urgent review rather than
            emollient alone.
            Warn about fire hazard when fabric contacts paraffin-based products.
